Link products to a supplier and set purchasing information

Link a product variant to one or more suppliers and store the purchasing information used when ordering that product.

Use the Suppliers section on a product to record which suppliers you can buy that variant from and the purchasing terms for each supplier.

  1. Open Products and open the product you want to update.
  2. Edit the product and find the Suppliers section.
  3. Select Link a supplier.
  4. Choose the supplier.
  5. Enter the purchasing information you want to store for this variant.
  6. Select Save supplier terms.

A product variant can be linked to more than one supplier.

Purchasing information

You can store different purchasing information for each supplier and variant:

Field What it is used for
Supplier SKU The code the supplier uses for this variant.
Purchase price The price you normally pay this supplier.
Purchase price currency The currency of the supplier-specific purchase price.
MOQ The minimum quantity you normally need to order.
Order multiple The quantity increment you normally order in.
Lead time (days) The expected number of days between ordering and receiving this variant from this supplier.

These values belong to the specific supplier and variant combination. The same product can therefore have different prices, SKUs, MOQs and lead times for different suppliers.

Main supplier

When a variant has multiple suppliers, one supplier is its Main supplier.

The Main supplier identifies the preferred supplier for that variant.

If you change or remove the Main supplier, choose which linked supplier should become the new Main supplier when NORTHMAST asks you to do so.

Edit purchasing information

In the product’s Suppliers section, select Edit terms for the supplier you want to update.

Change the purchasing information and select Save supplier terms.

Changes apply only to that supplier and variant relationship.

Use Unlink when you no longer want a supplier linked to that variant.

Unlinking removes the supplier relationship from the variant. It does not delete the supplier itself.

If you unlink the current Main supplier while other suppliers remain linked, NORTHMAST asks you to choose a New main supplier.

When you create a purchase order, NORTHMAST normally shows products that are linked to the selected supplier.

You can still search outside that supplier when needed. If you add a product that is not yet linked, NORTHMAST asks you to Link to supplier before adding it to the order.

Supplier-specific purchasing information can then be used when preparing the purchase order.
